The sightings plot displays each sightings as a cross-hair on the map (Figure 1).

The header for the bird list shows the location name that was clicked.  If a consolidation level was selected from the drop-down on the toolbar, this may be multiple locations.

You can click the cross-hair on the map to expand out the bird list for that location.  Multiple locations can be clicked.  The bird list shows each bird that was seen at that location along with a monthly checklist that shows in which months the bird was seen.  A blue background on the month letter indicates that the bird was seen in that month.

Clicking the red dot beside the bird name in the bird list will launch your web browser and take you to the range map on the USGS web site.  Clicking the bird name will take you to Cornell's "All About Birds" web site to the write-up for the bird.
