Tourists From China Will Increase Once More

In a study conducted by the Kasikorn Research Center, they have predicted that the number of tourists coming from China will bounce back to a high in the second half of 2017 thus the growth for this year will be set between 5 and 7.5 per cent. It is expected that the market for leisure hotel in Bangkok will also rise.

According to the think-tank unit of the bank, the market for tourists coming from China who are visiting Thailand has been through some adjustments after the ban that was poised on cheap tours.

For this year, between the months of January and April, the number of tourists coming from China has decreases by 7.4 per cent based on year-on-year figure thus settling only at 3.9 million. Still, these figures are still better compared to the figures that were recorded on the last quarter of last year. The decrease reached 20.7 per cent based on the year-on-year data and the number of Chinese tourists that visited Thailand only reached 1.44 million.

The centre added that they are positive that the figure will continue to increase as the year comes to an end and this is mainly due to external factors. Chinese tour operators that are based in Thailand will be putting in additional effort into boosting the inbound tourism of the country. The issue between China and South Korea is one of the reasons why Chinese tourists are currently visiting other countries instead.

An estimated was published by the researchcentre citing that Thailand will have an increase of between 5 to 7.5 per cent in terms of Chinese tourists coming to the country. The number will rise from 9.2 million to 9.4 million tourists this year. This is in comparison to the growth the tourism of the country has seen in 2016 which recorded a growth 10.3 per cent.

The growth will be more obvious for the second part of 2017 because it is considered the high season for Chinese tourists. These are during their holiday months and it is expected to have more bookings for leisure hotel in Bangkok. The growth will be more considering the decrease in tourist during the end of 2016.
